Community Grants Awarded
Each year, the Foundation reviews applications and awards grants from its Community Fund to nonprofits serving the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Citizens for Central Park: $10,000 to renovate public restrooms
Eastern Shore of Virginia Barrier Islands Center: $20,000 to paint and repair Almshouse buildings
ESCADV: $50,000 for grading and drainage for Hope Harbor complex
ESO Arts Center: $25,000 for flooring and HVAC renovations
Mary N. Smith Alumni Association: $50,000 for building renovations and classroom upgrades
Museum of Chincoteague Island: $50,000 to renovate historic Beebe Ranch
North Accomack Little League: $30,000 for lighting upgrades
North Street Playhouse: $25,000 for theater renovations
Northampton Historic Preservation Society: $35,000 to complete renovation of the historic 1907 Jail in Eastville
United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore: $8,000 for technology upgrades

Randy Custis Memorial Fund: $20,000 to help install lighting for field
Arts Enter Cape Charles: $30,000 to upgrade the sound system

Hampton Roads Community Foundation Grants - recommended by ESVCF
The Argyle Fund was established as an unrestricted fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation with a stated donor preference for Eastern Shore projects. The following grants were recommended by ESVCF prior to 2010.
Eastern Shore’s Own Arts Center: $30,000 for window replacement
Northampton Branch of the Assoc for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities: $70,440 toward renovation of the historic buildings on the court green in Eastville
Chincoteague Island Library: $50,000 to help with a 2200 sq. ft. expansion
Arts Enter Cape Charles: $50,000 to upgrade stage lighting and sound system at the Palace Theatre
Eastern Shore Rural Health: $125,000 to purchase a generator for Onley Community Health Center
Eastern Shore Community College: $75,000 toward construction of a Workforce Development and Training Center
These additional grants were recommended by ESVCF from funds of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation prior to 2010.
Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence: $23,580 to replace the roof and repair the administrative office
