Each year, the Foundation reviews applications and awards grants from its Community Fund to nonprofits serving the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Eastern Shore of Virginia Barrier Islands Center: $20,000 - Paint and repair Almshouse buildings
ESCADV: $50,000 - Grading and drainage for Hope Harbor complex
ESO Arts Center: $25,000 - Flooring and HVAC renovations
Mary N. Smith Alumni Association: $50,000 - Building renovations and classroom upgrades
Museum of Chincoteague Island: $50,000 - Renovate historic Beebe Ranch
North Accomack Little League: $30,000 - Lighting upgrades
North Street Playhouse: $25,000 - Theater renovations
Northampton Historic Preservation Society: $35,000 - Complete renovation of 1907 Jail in Eastville
United Way of Virginia’s Eastern Shore: $8,000 - Technology upgrades

Junior Achievement: $3,500 – Accomack County high school students’ trips to conferences

Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital Auxiliary: $50,000 – assist in purchase of ophthalmology equipment
Camp Occohanock: $20,000 – playground equipment
The Archaeology Conservancy: $15,000 – replace signage/upgrade Arlington historic site
2021 Community Grants Awarded
Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation: $50,000 – STEM Lab project for seven elementary and middle schools on the Shore
Cape Charles Historical Society: $40,000 – restore Pilot House for museum
Arts Enter: $25,000 – challenge grant for theatre upgrades
Childrens’ Harbor: $50,000 – playground equipment for daycare
Smart Beginnings (now Go & Grow): $6,600 – additional Go and Grow Packs for hospital
Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation: $50,000 – childrens’ reading room and other equipment
YMCA of the Chesapeake: $50,000 – construction of a fieldhouse
The Davis Center: $50,000 – building renovation for community center
Accomack-Northampton Pregnancy Center: $10,000 – infant and toddler car seats
Eastern Shore Action Agency on Aging: $50,000 – purchase of a refrigerated truck for food deliveries
Historic Cokesbury Church: $35,000 – restoration of the building
