Grants
The Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation (ESVCF)
currently is raising funds for grantmaking purposes in Accomack and
Northampton Counties. During this initial fundraising period ESVCF is
advising The Norfolk Foundation on its grants to be made on the Eastern
Shore through The Norfolk Foundation’s own discretionary grantmaking
program.
Most of The Norfolk Foundation’s Eastern Shore grantmaking is from the
Argyle Fund, a named unrestricted fund within The Norfolk Foundation
established in 1998 by a donor stating a preference for Eastern Shore
projects. Through 2004 The Norfolk Foundation committed more than $960,000
to the following nonprofit organizations on the Shore.:
-
Arts Enter Cape Charles
-
Cape Charles Historical Society
-
Children and Parents of the Shore
-
Eastern Shore Area Agency/Community Action Agency
-
Eastern Shore Community College (for the SPARK) programs
-
Eastern Shore branch of the Foodbank of Southeastern
Virginia
-
Eastern Shore Habitat for Humanity
-

-
Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society
-
The Eastern Shore of Virginia Barrier Islands Center
-
Friends of the Northampton Free Library
-
North Street Playhouse, Onancock
-

In 2005 and 2006 ESVCF advised The

two year period to help build a new Workforce Development Center at the
