Affiliation
As a start-up organization the Eastern Shore of Virginia Community
Foundation (ESVCF) is fortunate to be affiliated with The Norfolk
Foundation. Under the terms of the relationship all ESVCF funds (The ESVCF
“Family of Funds”) are held by The Norfolk Foundation, which provides ESVCF
a number of services in the areas of finance, donor development, grantmaking,
and marketing. Receiving these services from The Norfolk Foundation enables
ESVCF to keep its administrative costs low and to focus its energies on
raising the permanent endowment dollars necessary to fund the foundation’s
grantmaking over the long term.
Some of the services provided by The Norfolk Foundation include the
following:
Regarding finance
– investment, accounting, annual auditing, and
preparation of detailed quarterly statements for each fund within the ESVCF
Family of Funds.
Regarding development—guidance and support related to donor development
and assistance to professional advisors seeking to assist clients with
planning charitable gifts or bequests
Regarding grantmaking—record keeping and disbursement of grant checks from
the ESVCF Family of Funds; also assistance with evaluating and processing of
grant requests.
